I see a lot of djs waving their arms. I hear a lot of djs playing short choppy transitions, filtering over the mix. Is that what it’s about?

For me the trick is not to find ‘solid’ tracks and then filter the crap out of them.

The trick is to find tracks that are inherently dynamic and moving, and to mix them together artfully in a purposeful flow.

In truth there are already filters present on the tracks you are filtering again on the mixer.

If the music is interesting enough and well-produced enough it should stand on its own.

Mixing is important, it should not be masked by filters or merely transitioning between tracks, but creating something greater than the sum of the parts when played together.

What do you think?
